March 1: How awesome is your family pet?

You and your animal pal ? furry, feathered, scaly ? can strut your stuff at San Juan Capistrano’s annual Kid’s Pet Parade! There are several contests in which to enter. Vie for a title: The Cutest, Most Unusual, Best Team Costume (owner and pet), Funniest, and Most Obedient – that goes for pet, not the kid!

There is a $3 entry fee. Eligible contestants must be 5-12. All pets are required to be leashed, haltered or caged. An adult must also accompany the child and pet. A special award this year – “Judges Choice” – will grant the pet and owner the opportunity to be in the Swallows Day Parade on March 21! Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch provided to parade participants by The Fiesta Association. www.swallowsparade.com
