February 9: Join the 10th annual card contest for students in the surrounding area. The cards are hung on the cages of all the dogs and cats awaiting new homes during this Valentine’s season. The Yappy Hour features the card judging and awards ceremony, love songs are played, and human refreshments are served as potential adopters visit with animals. Card contest winner gets a pizza party! Saturday, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring Street. Free to spectate and enter the contest. Free parking.
