Lots to do this month! Check out the first art exhibit created just for dogs then hit a casino night themed dinner fundraiser! Come over to the beach to watch incredible surfer dogs hit the waves. Pawabunga!



Race for the Rescues in Irvine

September 8: Join the race to save lives with a fundraiser and adoption day for dogs, cats, horses and wildlife of Southern California. Participate in the 5K, 10K, 1K Dog Walk, or the Kids’ Fun Run. After, stroll the vendor and adoption fair, enjoy food trucks, face painting, pet psychics, dog costume contest and more. Can’t join the race? Wine and Brew for the Rescue

September 8: Join Priceless Pets at a private residence in Chino Hills for a Wine and Brew fundraiser to help animals, featuring a casino night with dinner, live music, auctions and a raffle. Saturday, 6-11 p.m. $70+ per person (21+).



Surf-A-Thon at Del Mar Dog Beach

September 9: Come down to the beach and enjoy a dog surfing competition, fundraiser, and beach day. The event features music, food, kids’ crafts, beach games and prizes, vendor booths, costume contest, dog agility course, and more. Sunday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Del Mar Dog Beach. (858) 756-4117.



Buddy’s Big Day Out Musical

September 8-9: Buddy’s Big Day Out is a new musical about animal welfare, recommended for kids (5+) and their families. The heartwarming 40-minute musical tells the tale of the lovable puppy, Buddy, who escapes from his home and has an adventure on the streets. Buddy’s journey introduces him to other animals and their struggles, and he ultimately discovers what it means to have a forever, loving family.

Presented by The Pet Welfare Project and The Children’s Theatre of Long Beach, Buddy’s Big Day Out is put on by a collective of artists who create educational and entertaining shows and art projects whose goal is to teach children about animal welfare.

Yappy Hour at Ritz Carlton in Dana Point

September 13: It’s the Ulti-Mutt Dog Party with pooches, hounds and pups of all sizes romping and playing on The Dana Lawn. Canines enjoy complimentary hand-made dog biscuits and lapping up refreshing libations, thanks to bacon, chicken, cheese, beef and liver flavored water, while their companions can purchase burgers, brews and wines, with proceeds going to support the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter. dOGUMENTA in Los Angeles

September 14-16 and 21-23: You’re invited to attend the very first art exhibit created for dogs in Los Angeles, dOGUMENTA! The exhibit will feature four-legged friends themed artwork commissioned by LA-area artists. The exhibitions are designed to engage culture hounds of all breeds and species by allowing dogs to be dogs–to sniff, pee, and even eat the interactive, multimedia works. Twilight Tours at EFBC’s Feline Conservation Center

Comedy Unleashed: Irvine Animal Care Center Fundraiser

September 18: Support animals in need while enjoying a night of dinner and laughs. Proceeds benefit the Irvine Animal Care Center. Ages 18 and older. Tickets are $35 and include dinner. Tuesday, doors open at 5:30 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m. Irvine Improv, 527 Spectrum Center Drive.



Surf City Surf Dog

September 29: Enjoy Doggone Fun at the McKenna Subaru Surf City Surf Dog. The event features a surFUR expo and more. Saturday, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.



Bids & Bites for Bassets

September 29: Join Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California at a party for a cause! Their 4th Annual Bids and Bites for Bassets is September 29, 2018 at Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach from 6 to 10 p.m.

Your ticket includes appetizers, a three-course meal, beer and wine, plus live entertainment, as well as the opportunity to win fantastic auction and game prizes. All proceeds support the homeless hounds of BHRSC.


Basset Hound Rescue of Southern is an all-volunteer run, 501(c)3 organization and has rescued, rehabbed and rehomed nearly 2,000 homeless hounds since their inception in 1997.
